The world-renowned Kinsey Institute at Indiana University conducted an interesting study earlier this year to learn more about the types of Americans who use porn blogs. A survey of more than 8,000 adults found that porn brokers were not more likely to use porn blogs, but people with anxiety and depression were. This means that porn blog users, including “digital sexuals”, are not using porn blogs as a “last resort” to replace a “real partner”, but rather to support their mental health. This contradicts the belief of many that there is. They use porn blogs because it makes them feel good, not because they’re a porn surrogate escort. But another stereotype of porn blogs is somewhat borne out. We found that gay and bisexual participants were more likely to use porn blogs than heterosexual participants (61% vs. 83%). The study found that a total of 79 percent of men and 51 percent of women’s girlfriends surveyed had used some form of porn blogging. The most commonly used “porn blogs” were, predictably, what MacArthur and Markey, the originators of the term “digital sexuality,” called the first wave of digital technology. These include sexting (30% of respondents reported participating in sexting) and watching webcam streams (18%). Perhaps surprisingly, so many people reported experiencing second-wave technologies such as B. VR porn (11%) and teledildonics (9%) of respondents. How should we interpret these results? The relationship between “depressed” and “anxious” people who are energized by porn blogs does not mean that their mental health is affected by unhappy or unsatisfying relationships. I suspect it is most likely to be explained by receiving it.
